Engelsberg ironworks and Oil island
The Engelsberg ironworks are featured on Unesco’s world heritage list and is the best
preserved and most complete in Sweden.
Oil island – it requires a short boat trip – is the world’s oldest remaining oil refinery.
Galery Astley – world famous gallery in the small village of Uttersberg
Art expositions, inside as well as in the garden. Temporary expositions in the old
station and a book print shop.
Ebba Brahes lusthus – an idyllic summerhouse from the year 1636.
Café Bockhammar is a great place to have a coffe and home made cake.
Västanfors old village
A reconstruted old Swedish village with houses, a school, a church and a shop where
you can buy lots of stuff, even today.
Good to know
Depending on your time of arrival at Färnas Hjärta you might like a walk through
the woods, enjoy a sauna nearby or just to sit and relax in our garden.
After a served breakfast next morning, you will be on your way to visit Engelsberg
Ironworks and the Oil Island, or a combination of Galery Astley, Ebba Brahes lusthus
and Västanfors old village.
The order in which you will do the visits on Saturday and Sunday depend on your
preference, the weather and other activities you might want to do.
The outdoor grill meal is on Saturday evening.
Take a backpack with you so you can take an (extra) sweater with you.
Furthermore, do not forget your sunglasses, sun cream and camera. Walking boots or sturdy shoes are recommended.
